1927年，勒·柯布西耶（Le Corbusier）和 夏洛特·佩里安（Charlotte Perriand）、皮埃爾·讓納雷（Pierre Jeanneret） 組成設計團隊。在1929年，LC1就在巴黎沙龍展出，推出的LC系列享譽世界。三人的合作關係一直持續到1937年並取得了偉大的成就，特別在傢俱設計上。勒·柯布西耶（Le Corbusier）傳世的十幾件傢俱全部以LC開頭的編號，LC就是柯布西耶（Le Corbusier）名字的縮寫，從LC1可以貫穿到LC19。這些Le Corbusier系列傢俱，將金屬作為設計的一部分並展示於外觀，顛覆了當時的傳統設計理念。


這是一張輕巧且結構精簡的扶手椅，由設計師於 1928 年設計，並於 1929 年在 秋季沙龍展（Salon d’Automne） 發表，同時展出的還有多件經典作品，例如 LC2、LC3扶手椅、LC6桌以及 LC4 可調式躺椅。
如同該系列其他作品一樣，LC1的設計源自對人體姿態的深入研究。這款扶手椅特別著重於提供完善的身體支撐，營造舒適放鬆且適合交談的坐姿體驗。
其設計線條優雅且極具簡約美感，使其能自然融入各種空間環境之中。
